Purlin, Side Rail and Mezz.

We offer a complete roof purlin and rail system based on our UltraZED® purlins and UltraBEAM® side rails, as well as our UltraMEZZ® mezzanine system.
Purlin roof systems

At Hadley, we have a fully compatible range of Z-section profiles designed for roof applications. With Hadley UltraZED® purlins, we offer multiple configuration options to suit different structural needs. These include single-span, double-span, and continuous configurations, providing flexibility in design while ensuring optimal load distribution and structural efficiency.

Mezzanine floor systems

Additionally, we provide an industrial mezzanine floor solution with options including standard inset and oversail configurations to suit structural requirements. Hadley UltraMEZZ® features a range of cold-rolled steel solutions designed for efficiency, durability, and ease of installation.

  • Inset Systems – for maximising headroom
  • Top Cleat System – for providing opportunity for efficient double spans
  • Flange Fixed System – for simplifying refurbishment projects

Purlin roof systems

Hadley also offers a comprehensive selection of cold-rolled steel side rails, with depths ranging from 145mm to 305mm. Rails consist of Hadley UltraBEAM® and UltraZED® profiles, offering high effective section properties. These side rails are compatible with various cladding types, and are manufactured from Z275 pre-coated galvanized steel with a minimum yield strength of 450N/mm².

The side rail system includes:

  • Sleeved Side Rail System – Ideal for buildings with two or more bays and column spacing up to 13m. Here, sleeves are installed at all penultimate column positions and staggered on internal bays.
  • Butted Side Rail System – Suitable for buildings with irregular bays or where the rail needs to be inset between columns.
  • Both sleeved and butted systems can be used with horizontal cladding by incorporating horizontal cladding supports such as panel connecting rails.

For technical details, design software, literature, and customer support, Hadley offers comprehensive resources to support in the construction of purlins, side rails, eaves beams, and mezzanine floor joists.

Hadley UltraZED® purlin and UltraBEAM® side rail systems are available in four systems

Our side rail, purlin and mezzanine systems are available in a choice of configurations to suit a range of requirements. We can also accommodate various spans, load capacities, structural complexities and preferred site practices. To assist you with your project further, our Hadley Design Suite Pro software incorporates an ‘optimum system’ feature which will suggest the most cost effective system for any given design criteria.

FAQs

  • What is a purlin?

A purlin is a horizontal structural component used in roofing systems to support the roof covering and transfer loads to the primary structural framework. They help distribute loads such as wind, snow and live loads to prevent excessive stress on certain parts of the structure.

Hadley UltraZED® purlins are made from cold-rolled steel, providing strength and stability while reducing the overall weight of the structure.

  • What is a mezzanine level?

A mezzanine floor is an intermediate level built between the main floors of a building, which provides additional space without extending the overall structure. Mezzanine levels are commonly used in warehouses, offices, and retail environments to maximise usable space in an efficient way.

Our UltraMEZZ® mezzanine floor systems are designed with cold-rolled steel components, offering cost-effective and easy-to-install solutions for expanding floor space.

  • Why choose cold-rolled purlin, side rail and mezzanine systems?

Cold-rolled steel purlins, side rails and mezzanine systems provide key advantages over traditional hot-rolled alternatives. For instance, cold-rolled components are lighter yet strong, making transportation and installation easier and more cost-effective.

Hadley’s cold roll forming technology delivers engineered components that enhance structural integrity, improve load distribution, and reduce material waste. Our systems are also designed for easy integration, customisation, and compliance with industry standards, ensuring a reliable and long-lasting solution for various construction needs.
