JOB DESCRIPTION
Hadley group Technology, a leader at the forefront of engineering and innovation are looking for an ambitious Project Engineer who is ready to manage, lead and implement a suite of machinery and tooling projects to facilitate the continued growth of the business. We design and make our own special purpose machinery and tooling destined for our sites in the UK, Dubai, Thailand, The Netherlands and North America.
This role challenges you to engage with multiple departments within the business to plan, monitor and initiate key project deliverables. The Project Engineer is a key asset within the team, bridging the engineered solution from concept to manufacture and eventually into a live production environment. Working closely with the Engineering Manager and wider engineering functions. you will have authority to evaluate risk, create and manage schedules, monitor and control cost and critically; ensure effective communication and teamwork prevails, whilst delivering world class projects on time and to budget.
THE ROLE
- Coordinate enquiries within the Machinery department and ensure RFQs fully capture customer expectations
- Provide professional progress updates to stakeholders and liaise with relevant members of staff to ensure project delivery on time and budget
- Manage the flow of work within each project. Ensure designs are released to procurement in a strategic manner to allow a constant workload in the build area. Ensure appropriate processes are followed (design review / risk assessment, etc.)
- Identify risk of conflicting resource requirements or department capacity across multiple project plans
- Compile and make available all project documentation in conjunction with high-level project plans
- Monitor scope creep and update project deliverables accordingly. Develop, track and update project timing plans / Gantt charts with input from the team.
- Provide technical council to designers and build engineers when challenges present themselves, assessing project risk by considering both time and cost implications
- Constantly strive to improve quality management processes and procedures affecting project delivery.
- Work with project teams to ensure delivery of machine documentation on completion such as manuals, critical spares lists, maintenance schedules, asset numbers, updated parts lists, addition to the asset register, capability studies and GA drawings
- Evaluate and communicate project performance (actual vs budget)
- Attend and organise project meetings
- Champion factory acceptance / sign off of machines to ensure the business is disciplined in this area
- Support Ops teams by project managing the process of procuring externally sourced machinery
- Any other duties within the capability of the job holder.
THE CANDIDATE
- Degree Level in an Engineering Discipline or completion of a technical apprenticeship with relevant experience or equivalent
- Detailed knowledge of Engineering tooling, machinery or manufacturing processes.
- Familiar with good engineering practice.
- At least 2 years’ experience managing engineering projects.
- Strong analytical skills, and technical problem solving.
- Capable of understanding technical engineering drawings with applied GD&T
- Fluent English
- PC literate to a high degree of competency
- Able to undertake comprehensive Risk Assessments.
- Able to create and develop technical specifications and documentation
- Able to read, understand and interpret engineering drawings
- Able to create innovative solutions
- Excellent problem solving skills – able to apply problem solving techniques e.g. 5 Whys/8D
- Appreciation of production costs including waste, downtime, scrap and re-work
- Communicates with clarity and demonstrate excellence in approach to work and people activities.
