JOB DESCRIPTION

You will be part of a small team responsible for the building of production equipment, ranging from small
assemblies to entire production lines. Working closely with the Projects, Maintenance and Design teams you
will use assembly drawings and manuals to turn the design team’s plans into reality.
This role is suited to a hands-on Engineer who enjoys problem solving and building equipment to the very
highest standards. If you are motivated to develop your skills and continuously improve, you will fit in well.

THE ROLE

 

Primary Roles

1. Build Mechanical Machinery from start to finish:
 Mechanical presses including crankshafts, gear mechanisms & fitment detailing.
 Rolling Mills including fitment of gearboxes, layshafts & overall assembly of fabs.
 Small to medium scale machinery including coil holders, straighteners and light guards.
2. Modify and improve existing machinery by implementing upgrades.
 Improved machinery guarding
 Replacing obsolete mechanical parts.
3. Pre-build / Inspect parts and assemblies for adherence to QMS process.
 Document and control the pre build process
 Complete build and installation sign off documentation.
4. Machine appraisals to support the design team with quoting and estimating.
 Support the local design & maintenance team with assessing machine condition during
downtime.
5. Refurbishment of existing assets & equipment
 Complete assessments of old machinery to support designers with quoting..

Secondary Roles

6. Use manual machines to modify/correct parts
7. Raise Non-conformances to the design team
8. Fabrication of basic components including welding.
9. Troubleshoot Hydraulic and Pneumatic assemblies of machines.
10. Attend Design & Project meetings

Tertiary Roles

11.Ensure the workshop is kept organised, clean & tidy at all times
12.Identify opportunities for continuous improvement
13.Support Maintenance with App tickets
14.Mentor apprentices on rotation within Machine Build
15.Support Goods-in

 

 

TRAVEL REQUIRMENTS

Europe, Dubai, Thailand, USA and other worldwide locations as necessary. Approx 1-3 times per year with a duration from 1-2 days up to 2 weeks as required.

 

 

THE CANDIDATE
  • Mechanical/industrial experience allowing them to confidently build complex machinery & equipment
    Pneumatic & Hydraulic system experience: Hydraulic Power Packs, Pneumatic & Hydraulic cylinders.
  • Must have some form of Mechanical qualification (BTEC and/or NVQ3). An apprenticeship in Engineering is desirable.
  • Strong Mechanical Fitting / Assembly / Engineering experience. Working from drawings to assemble precision bearings and components using limits & fits.

 

PERSONAL QUALITIES
  • Obtains a high amount of pride in their work.
  • Willing to work overtime, weekends and travel to Group customer locations as required.
  • Able to work alone and/or as part of a close-knit small team.
  • Need to be very flexible as they are also required to cover general machine maintenance around the site.
